STUDENTS BE FLEXIBLE IN THE JOB YOU WANT

Tight economy means not as many jobs about
No doubt you are aware of the tightening economic situation in New Zealand at the moment.  As an example of this, The National Bank reported on Thursday 30th October that 21% of employers are expecting to have less staff in a year's time.  This the lowest result in the 20 years they have been releasing their Monthly Business Outlook report.

What does the tight economy mean for students?
The resultant impact on you is that there are fewer jobs around this summer regardless of where you are looking including on www.sjs.co.nz.

What should you do to increase your chances of finding work?
  • Be flexible in what job you are after this summer.  For example if you have had retail customer service experience consider other customer service roles.
  • Be flexible on the job duration.  There may not be as many jobs available for right over summer.  Consider doing two shorter duration jobs for example that still keep you working over the time you want to.
  • If you are having difficulties finding a job email help@sjs.co.nz for assistance.
